tucker

i love how Tucker offers various styles of tops and dresses and whatnot in a whole bunch of different prints. it's so hard to find that perfect item of clothing that's the right shape and fabric. plus, their clothing is super fun and colorful. great for brightening up that drizzly spring day (that we seem to get all too often here in Portland). i think my favorite pieces would have to be the lovely Racerback Tank (i've been smitten with tank tops lately) and the wonderful Short Cami Romper. now, to decide on a pattern!

ida sjostedt

there are no words to describe how absolutely amazing Ida Sjostedt's Spring 2010 collection is. it's my perfect spring wardrobe. lots of lace and florals with a little bit of funkiness thrown in the mix. it's beautiful. so so pretty! it's a funny thing, my recent affinity for all things girly, because i'm the first to admit that my style isn't exactly girly at all. lately i've been living in jeans, a loose t-shirt, a fedora, and some Doc Marten saddle shoes. and my closet is chock-full of bright and bold colors, so all of this soft subtle stuff that i'm falling madly in love with is throwing me off! but i kind of like it. shakes things up a bit, you know? my head is floating around in a world full of pastels and florals and lacey things...and i think i like it. =]

betsey johnson

Betsey Johnson Spring 2010. i don't know what it is...if it's the colors she uses, the shapes, the fabric, or the over-the-top way she puts it all together...but this lady knows how to make clothes. i've always felt that walking into her store is like walking into a makeup box. you're suddenly surrounded by different colors and textures and you don't know what to gaze at/touch/try on first. it's all too much! it's overwhelming in the best sense of the word. her new collection is no less elaborate. bold colors and large hair pieces. oodles of ruffles and lots of layers. it's almost as if Betsey Johnson has somehow thrown together everything in my childhood dress-up trunk and made it adult. adult in a youthful way. adult in the way that you could wear any of these pieces and decide to be taken seriously...or laugh at yourself. i'd just end up laughing at myself. these articles of clothing are too fun to wear with a harsh look on your face. and a smile is the absolute perfect addition to this spring collection.

hi! i'm Lena, but you can call me Lulu. i love Frida Kahlo, feminism, art, reading, kitties, and drinking tea. i love the film Amelie and i think that the tiny traveling gnome has stolen my heart. i want to own a bookshop and live above it one day. i get quite passionate about things. i tend to think too much. i'm kind of a hermit.
